Duke of Edinburgh Award

Expedition season is upon us! Our current Bronze Award pupils are soon heading out on their practice expeditions and the Easter holidays may be the perfect opportunity to make sure they are fully prepared with everything they will need in their rucksack.

Please see attached kit list for what each pupil will need. The yellow highlights refer to kit that the school WILL provide each group, the blue highlights refer to kit that can be borrowed by individual pupils who do not have their own.

Any queries, do not hesitate to get in touch with Mrs Moghadam at school.

At Berwickshire High School we offer students the opportunity to take on their Bronze or Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award in school.

To start your Bronze Award you must be 14 (or nearly 14) so pupils normally sign up in S3 however you have until your 25th birthday to complete an Award at any level so anyone is welcome! Bronze Award enrolment is usually offered to S3 pupils in the autumn term with a sign-up deadline before the October break. A similar system is in place for S4 pupils wishing to embark on their Silver Award.

The Gold Award is an option for pupils from the age of 16 but is currently run in conjunction with other schools in the Borders.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a fantastic opportunity for pupils to develop life skills such as leadership, communication, problem solving and teamwork but most importantly it is an adventure which they will never forget.

For all our current Bronze and Silver Award candidates, use this eDofE help sheet to guide you through completing your online profile. Remember, these should be updated on a regular basis!
